About Patricia Brown

Patricia Brown, Designer For Patricia Brown Jewerly, and High Fashion Accessories Founded in 2008 by designer, Patricia A. Brown, Patricia Brown Designs, LLC is a high-end fashion jewelry and accessory design firm. The founder is an industry veteran with over 20 years of design and design direction experience in the fashion industry. Until recently a pillar in the corporate world of fashion, Patricia started her career at Geoffrey Beene Knitwear as an Assistant Designer. Moving quickly to Designer level as "Private Label Designer" under the tutelage of Carmela Inzucchi, Patricia moved up quickly to the designer level, as private label designer for the company.

Patricia then found herself transitioning to experience working for some of the best names in the business: Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Collection, Adrienne Vittadini, and Banana Republic. It was here at Banana that she hit full stride, moving up the ranks from Designer to Design Director to Vice President for multiple categories of design. Her design and direction in the sweater and knit areas spawned some of the best financial results for the company for years running, and her overall responsibilities included not only sweaters and knits, but accessories, intimates, swim and sleepwear. Her mentor at Banana Republic, Jerome Jessup, helped pave the way, and has since been a creative and inspirational influence. She followed his path to land her next 2 jobs in the industry: a consulting stint at Gapkids and Baby, and then on to Ann Taylor to head up the design of tops, including sweaters, knitwear and seasonal accessories there.

By the time Patricia left Ann Taylor, she was yearning to find new inspiration, and to break away from a more restrictive corporate environment to do what she had always envisioned: to start a firm that enabled her to create according to her own particular taste level and creative instincts. She broke away to become re-inspired and to establish a new brand. This brand began as "Brown Paper Packages" (to represent her "favorite things," with the label of "Patricia Brown" on the actual label,) and then morphed into "Patricia Brown Designs," so as not to confuse her customer. The jewelry focus emerged after the brand was formed, and debuted in May, 2010.

Her collections have several distinctive qualities: a versatility of many pieces to go from daytime to nighttime; an appeal to fashion-aware modern women who like to express their style; a feeling of luxury or refinement in materials and/or technique, but often with the paradox of unusual combinations or an underpinning of something more rustic or familiar. Patricia loves the idea of paradox and the unexpected in her work. It might be a simple twist on something known, something more obviously divergent that is combined, or something familiar completely re-invented.

Patricia graduated from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, with a major in Economics and a minor in English. She went on to earn a BFA in Fashion Design, with honors and a Gold Thimble Designer Critic Award, from Parsons School of Design in New York City.
